The 111th session of the International Labor Conference is being held in Geneva (Switzerland) with the participation of government representatives and social partners of the member countries of the International Labor Organization (ILO).
Speaking at the session, the head of the Azerbaijani delegation, the minister of labor and social protection of the population, Sahil Babayev noted the relevance of the issues in the report made by ILO Director General Jilbert Hungbo at the opening of the session.
The minister pointed out that despite the negative effects of complex political and economic processes on a regional and global scale, the high pace of development continues in Azerbaijan, the significant increases in social payments in the country in the last 5 years, as well as the results of the large digitalization program implemented in the social sector, and the electronicization of more than 140 social services. . The achievements of the DOST concept and the important benefits of the "Labor and Employment" subsystem were discussed. Information was provided on the construction works carried out in our territories freed from occupation.
Azerbaijan's successful initiatives to strengthen global efforts in the fight against the pandemic by being the chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement since 2019 were discussed. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of effective employment measures in the member countries and strengthening of social protection, especially for vulnerable groups, and close cooperation with the ILO was emphasized.
Within the framework of the 111th session of the ILO, a meeting of labor ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement was held under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan. In his speech, S. Babayev, who chaired the meeting attended by high-ranking representatives of more than 40 countries and ILO General Director J. Hungbo, emphasized the active participation of our country in the global fight against the pandemic as the chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement. The successful initiatives of our country in this direction, including initiatives related to the adoption of resolutions for equal and universal access to vaccines for all countries, were mentioned. At the Summit of the Contact Group of the Non-Aligned Movement, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev proposed the creation of the UN High-Level Panel on Global Recovery after COVID-19, Azerbaijan's strong support for the institutional development of the Movement, and all these steps greatly strengthened the Movement's international reputation.
