A meeting with representatives of the World Bank was held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. Noting the successful experience of cooperation with the World Bank in the social sphere in the past, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Sahil Babayev stressed the importance of the new cooperation project "Employment Support Project".

The Minister said that in accordance with the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, active employment programs in the country are expanding year by year. Last year, 16,232 people were involved in the self-employment program, which is 13.8 times more than in 2017, when the program was launched. The number of activities of the program has also increased to 44.

Babayev said that the "Employment Support in Azerbaijan" project jointly implemented by the Ministry and the World Bank is an important support for expanding the self-employment program and increasing the effectiveness of the implementation mechanism.

He noted that 22,000 unemployed people from vulnerable groups of the population will create small businesses in the production and service areas under this project.

He noted that more than 6,000 unemployed people have already been involved in business trainings under the project, of which 1,033 are members of the families of martyrs and war veterans. Women and young people are also given priority in the implementation of the project. Of those involved in business trainings under the project, 1,771 are women and 1,806 are young people.

This year, another 6,000 people will be involved in the "Employment Support Project" and small businesses will be established. The process of providing assets to project participants continues.
