Ensuring the sustainable development of human capital is one of the main priorities of the socio-economic reforms successfully implemented in Azerbaijan. This opinion was emphasized in the meeting held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population with the delegation led by Fadia Saadah, Regional Director for Human Development of the World Bank.
The Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Sahil Babayev drew attention to the achievements of President Ilham Aliyev's socio-economic policy and the steps taken in the direction of ensuring the welfare of citizens in parallel with the processes of sustainable economic development in our country.
Especially in the last five years, the implementation of 4 social reform packages led to serious increases in social payments, including 2.7 times the minimum wage, 55 percent of the average monthly wage, 2.5 times the minimum pension, two times the average monthly pension and median wage, 2 times the wage fund It was reported that a 5-fold increase was achieved.
It was noted that the scope of social protection and active employment programs expanded during this period. Achievements in the fields of increasing the range of employment services, improving the vocational education and training system, and opening new vocational training centers were noted. Measures to increase the skills of the labor force, ensure gender equality in the field of labor and employment have been brought to attention.

The successful experience of cooperation with the World Bank formed in the past period, the importance of the "Employment support in Azerbaijan" project jointly implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population and the World Bank was emphasized. It was reported that up to 5,400 small businesses have already been created for 22,000 unemployed people under that project, which aims to support 22,000 unemployed people to start small businesses.
The meeting discussed the development of human capital, the implementation of the "Employment Support in Azerbaijan" project, the expansion of social protection and employment programs, the provision of gender equality in the field of labor and employment, the improvement of the vocational training system, social services, etc. There were exchanges of views on the work done in these directions.
