Local bodies of the State Employment Agency and “DOST” centers under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan in accordance with the Article 21.1 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Employment” organize the involvement of job-seekers in paid public works under contracts in order to ensure their temporary employment.
The paid social work program ("Friend of the Unemployed"), implemented in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, will provide employment for unemployed and job seekers, as well as their initial professional knowledge and skills in specific areas of activity. For this purpose, the program is being improved.
Over the past period, 38,000 paid public jobs have been created across the country. Those involved in the paid social work program are mainly those who do not have basic vocational training. Therefore, one of the main goals of the current year is to provide those involved in the program with jobs and salaries, as well as to create conditions for them to acquire basic professional knowledge and skills in this or that field.
A number of joint programs have already been developed for this purpose. Thus, within the project developed jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 2,500 people are expected to work as veterinary assistants under the program of paid public works. In addition to earning a salary by working as a veterinary assistant, they will gain a lot of knowledge and skills related to veterinary medicine in practice, and will be able to build their own business in the future due to these skills. Also, 800 people will have the opportunity to acquire basic professional skills in the joint project with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and 300 people with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
Joint work will be done with other agencies in this direction. As a result, the social work program will also play an important role in transforming the untrained workforce into a workforce with knowledge and skills in various occupations.
Execution of contracts for involvement in paid public works is provided by "DOST ISH MARKAZI" LLC, a subsidiary of DOST Agency.
