Unemployment insurance

Unemployment insurance is a form of insurance aimed at compensating the lost wages of the insured in cases provided by law.

The right to receive insurance benefits has the insured whose employment relationship was terminated on the following grounds and registered as unemployed in accordance with Article 5 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Employment":

  • in case of liquidation of the state body or legal entity, according to Article 33.1.2 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Civil Service" or Clause a) of Article 70 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
  • when the number or staff of employees or civil servants is reduced, according to Article 33.1.3 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Civil Service" or Clause b) of Article 70 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
  • if the owner of the enterprise changes, according to paragraph ç) of part 2 of Article 68 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
  • if there is a legally binding resolution (decision) of the court on the reinstatement of the employee previously working in the relevant work (position), according to clause b) of part 1 of Article 74 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
  • when an employee previously working in that enterprise exercises the right to return to his workplace (position) after being discharged from full-term active military service, according to clause a) of Article 74, Part 1 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
  • when the term of the employment contract expires, in accordance with paragraph b) of part 2 of article 68, part 1 or part 2 of article 73 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
