Minister Anar Aliyev submitted notification on Azerbaijan’s accession to another ILO Convention to the Director-General

Within the framework of the International Labour Conference, meetings were held with the Ministers of Türkiye and Lithuania.

At the 114th session of the International Labour Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland, the head of the Azerbaijani delegation and Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, Anar Aliyev, submitted a notification on Azerbaijan’s accession to another ILO Convention to the Director-General of the Organization, Gilbert Houngbo.

The Convention No. 187 on “Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health” was ratified by the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan earlier this year.

During the meeting between Anar Aliyev and Gilbert Houngbo, it was highlighted that Azerbaijan has already acceded to 60 ILO conventions, while the ratification of several other conventions is under consideration.

Within the framework of the session, during the meeting between Minister Anar Aliyev and the Minister of Labour and Social Security of Türkiye, Vedat Işıkhan, it was emphasized that relations between the two countries are at the level of brotherhood and strategic alliance. The parties exchanged views on the cooperation agenda between the two ministries, as well as on ensuring that cooperation regarding the export of labour force continues in a sustainable and more intensive manner.

During the meeting with the Minister of Social Security and Labour of Lithuania, Jūratė Zailskienė, Minister Anar Aliyev noted that there are broad opportunities for further strengthening cooperation in the social sphere between the two countries. The meeting discussed deepening cooperation in this field, as well as exploring opportunities for attracting labour force from Azerbaijan in line with the needs of Lithuania’s labour market.

At the meetings with Beate Andres, Deputy Director-General and Chief of Cabinet of the ILO, and Peter van Rooij, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia of the ILO, opportunities for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ILO in new directions were discussed.
