Tripartite Commission on Social and Economic Affairs holds its next meeting

The Tripartite Commission on Social and Economic Affairs, comprising representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population, the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC), and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASK), held its next meeting.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population and Chair of the Commission Anar Aliyev, Chairman of ATUC Sahib Mammadov, Chairman of ASK Mammad Musayev, as well as representatives of all three institutions. In accordance with the Commission’s Charter, the chairmanship of the Commission for 2026 has been assumed by the Ministry.

Opening the meeting, Anar Aliyev highlighted the social reforms implemented in recent years under the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, noting that significant steps have also been taken to improve labour legislation within the framework of these reforms. He emphasized the importance of the Commission’s activities in ensuring effective discussions with social partners on new legislative initiatives, proposals related to labour, employment and social protection, and the ratification of International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions.

Sahib Mammadov and Mammad Musayev noted the successful social partnership achieved between the parties in recent years and stressed the importance of the joint discussions conducted within the framework of the Tripartite Commission. They also stated that issues of significant socio-economic importance would be reviewed during the meeting.

The participants discussed proposals related to self-employment activities and further improvements to labour legislation in line with ILO Conventions.

The meeting also reviewed proposals concerning the determination of the legal status, labour rights and social security rights of individuals working through online platforms, the establishment of a Working Group within the Tripartite Commission for the implementation of the ILO’s “Self-Assessment Method for Social Dialogue Institutions”, and the preparation of an action plan for the implementation of this methodology.
