On the occasion of International Girl's Day, a discussion on gender was held in the Ministry with the participation of a group of active young girls

October 11 - within the framework of the campaign on the occasion of the International Girl's Day, a meeting was held with a group of active young girls from vulnerable groups of population (children of martyrs, persons with disabilities, youth deprived of parental care, students in boarding schools) at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.

The campaign is carried out by "Regional Development" Public Union with the financial support of the European Union, within the framework of programs  UN Population Fund and UN Women's Agency's "EU for gender equality: together against gender stereotypes and gender-based violence", UN Population Fund's "Gender-based sex selection in the South Caucasus and elimination of other harmful practices".

At the meeting, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Sahil Babayev informed about the activities of the ministry, social reforms carried out in our country in recent years, and social support programs aimed at vulnerable groups.

It was noted that the national legislative framework that ensures gender equality has been created in our country, the proportion of women in the employed population has increased year by year to 48.3 percent, and the work done to create ample conditions for women to participate in active employment programs.

Information was provided on the measures taken in the implementation of the Action Plan for 2020-2025 on the prevention of pre-birth gender selection of children.

Encouraging active participation of girls in social life and the labor market, supporting their education, career choice, career development, etc. opinions were exchanged on topics.

The aim of the campaign is to promote the value of girls in society, to increase their social activity, and to create conditions for the development of leadership skills. The participants of the campaign get acquainted with the activities of the institutions for the promotion of gender equality, meet with the leaders and discuss the issues that interest them.
