Small businesses have already been established for more than 5,000 people under the joint project with the World Bank

In the meeting with the mission on the "Employment Support in Azerbaijan" project implemented by the World Bank in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, it was stated that the implementation of the project continues successfully.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Sahil Babayev noted the importance of the "Employment Support Project in Azerbaijan" in expanding the self-employment program. It was emphasized that the project covering the years 2020-2025 aims to support the creation of a small family farm within the framework of the self-employment program of 22 thousand unemployed people, as well as the improvement of employment services and programs.

It was noted that about 8,000 people have already been involved in business training under the project, of which more than 700 are members of martyrs' families and war participants. Also, more than 2400 women participated in these trainings.

According to the project, 5042 people have already been given assets in accordance with their business plans, and small businesses in the fields of production and services have been established for them. This process is still ongoing. Young people are also prioritized in the project, and more than 2,100 young people have been involved in project training. In the meeting, the World Bank's chief expert on social protection issues, Mirey Ovadiya, program manager Ahmet Levent Yener, and other members of the mission discussed the implementation of the project and the work to be done in this area. .

The works carried out within the framework of the "Employment services and programs strengthening component" of the project were reviewed. Improvement of social services, social assistance, disability assessment systems, conducting relevant surveys, etc. views were exchanged on the cooperation in the fields and future joint work.
