Minister Sahil Babayev gave an interview to ILO representative on Azerbaijan's experience in supporting employment and social welfare during pandemic

Minister of Labor and Social Protection Sahil Babayev gave a video interview to Bertrand Momo, an employee of the Training Center of the International Labor Organization (ILO), on the work done in Azerbaijan to reduce the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic on labor and employment, support employment and social welfare.

During the interview, the Minister noted the work done to prevent the negative impact of the pandemic on the Azerbaijani economy. He pointed that in accordance with the policy of President Ilham Aliyev, the main directions of measures taken today in our country are the protection of public health and employment, support for social welfare, stimulation of the economy.

Speaking about the measures taken in the country to reduce the negative impact of the pandemic on the economy, macroeconomic stability, employment and business entities, Babayev said that more than 3.5 billion manats was allocated to this area, including 600 million manats for employment and social welfare. The Minister said that the 12 measures implemented in 4 areas covered more than 4.8 million citizens or more than 48% of the country's population, and during the pandemic 1,660,000 salaried employees (with employment contracts) were protected from jobs and wages. At the same time, he said that every month more than 23% of the population, or more than 2.34 million people, are provided with sustainable social payments.
