Development of professional skills in the agricultural sector and promotion of self-employment are among the priority areas

One of the priority areas of active labour market measures implemented by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population is the development of professional skills of those employed in the agricultural sector, as well as the organization of self-employment for unemployed and job-seeking individuals.

This was stated by the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, Anar Aliyev, during the opening ceremony of the Agrarian Business Festival held in the Jalilabad district.

He highlighted the successful outcomes of the consistent social reforms implemented in recent years under the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev. It was noted that these reforms have enabled significant increases in social payments, expansion of the coverage of social protection mechanisms, and the organization of public services based on efficiency, transparency, and citizen-oriented principles.

Anar Aliyev also spoke about the active employment measures carried out by the Ministry in the agricultural sector. He stated that more than 30 vocational training courses have been organized to improve the professional knowledge and skills of individuals working in agriculture, as well as to provide unemployed and job-seeking persons with new competencies in this field.

A total of 128 occupational and qualification standards related to the agricultural sector have been developed. These standards serve to prepare a workforce that meets international labour market requirements, enhance skills, and support employers in selecting qualified personnel.

It was noted that over the past five years, 65 percent of participants in the self-employment program have established small agricultural enterprises. More than 110,000 individuals have been involved in the program to date. Measures to expand sustainable and formal employment in the agricultural sector are ongoing.

It should be noted that, within the framework of the Agrarian Business Festival, certificates of appreciation were presented to representatives of various institutions and organizations for their active participation and support in organizing the event.

Participants of the event also met with attendees of the “Bootcamp” program organized within the project “Application of Artificial Intelligence in Precision Agriculture” at the Jalilabad State Vocational Education Center. The participants presented their projects and shared insights on the application of innovative technologies in the agricultural sector.
