Future Cooperation in the Social Sphere Discussed at Meeting with EU Head of Delegation in Azerbaijan

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population with Mariyana Kuyundzhich, Head of the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan.

Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Anar Aliyev highlighted the ongoing social reforms in the country and the increase in social benefits. He also spoke about achievements in the implementation of digital solutions in the fields of labour, employment, and social protection, as well as improved transparency and accessibility, and the advantages of the DOST model.

Information was provided on active employment programs, important steps in improving labour legislation and aligning it with international standards. The recent legal changes aimed at strengthening gender equality in labour legislation and Azerbaijan’s accession to the International Equal Pay Coalition were also noted.

The importance of joint projects with the EU in the areas of social protection, medical and social rehabilitation, social insurance and pensions, and employment was emphasized. Cooperation with the European Training Foundation was also highlighted.

Mariyana Kuyundzhich expressed a positive opinion about the social reforms implemented in Azerbaijan and underlined the importance of the meeting in terms of exchanging views on continuing cooperation and implementing new joint projects.

The meeting also discussed future cooperation opportunities in the fields of labour, employment, and social protection.
