Skills Summit on “Uncovering Intergenerational Talent” Held in Türkiye

A Skills Summit on the theme “Uncovering Intergenerational Talent” is being held in Istanbul, Türkiye, jointly organized by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Republic of Türkiye. Azerbaijan is represented at the summit by a delegation led by Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Anar Aliyev.

President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the opening ceremony of the summit. The Turkish President stated that he believes the event will create a strong foundation for global dialogue in the field of skills, wished success to the summit, and posed for a commemorative photo with the participants.

The summit brings together ministers and senior officials from various countries, as well as representatives of international organizations and the fields of education, labour, economy, innovation, migration, and others. The event aims to discuss the development of people’s skills throughout all stages of life and the effective use of their potential. It also serves as a platform for sharing experiences related to addressing these increasingly important issues amid demographic changes, widespread digitalization, and the transition to a green economy.

The summit features sessions and presentations on topics such as “Rethinking Formal Education – Recalibrating Strategies for Lifelong Opportunities,” “Using Adult Skills – Empowering Workers Across Generations,” and “Unlocking Talent – Harnessing the Potential of Underrepresented Groups.”

Within the framework of the event, Anar Aliyev met with Bulgaria’s Minister of Labour and Social Policy Hasan Ademov. During the meeting, it was emphasized that the strategic partnership relations between the two countries provide a solid basis for the sustainable development of cooperation in the fields of labour, employment, and social protection.

The parties discussed expanding the legal and contractual framework between the two institutions, strengthening cooperation, and exchanging experience.

Anar Aliyev also met with Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). The importance of the first meeting of labour, employment, and social protection ministers of the OTS member states, held in Baku in December last year, was highlighted.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on opportunities for further developing cooperation among member states in the areas of labour, employment, and social protection.
