Event held on the theme “Heydar Aliyev is the author of the social development strategy”

An event titled “Heydar Aliyev is the author of the social development strategy” was held to mark the 103rd anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population and the New Azerbaijan Party. Participants included Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Anar Aliyev, Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party and Head of its Central Office Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Labour and Social Policy Musa Guliyev, Chairman of the Yasamal District Organization of the Party Bakhtiyar Nabiyev, member of the YAP Veterans Council and academician Misir Mardanov, and others.

Participants of the event, held at the DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Center, viewed an exhibition featuring photographs reflecting various periods of the life and activity of the prominent statesman Heydar Aliyev, as well as handicrafts dedicated to the National Leader created by the Center’s beneficiaries.

Speaking at the event, Anar Aliyev highlighted the exceptional historical services of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the establishment and development of the modern independent Azerbaijani state. He noted that the National Leader defined ensuring citizens’ welfare as one of the key priorities of state policy. Between 1993 and 2003, more than 60 documents aimed at ensuring social development were signed by Heydar Aliyev. During that period, the average monthly amount of pensions and benefits increased eightfold, while average monthly wages rose by more than six times.

It was emphasized that thanks to the successful continuation and further development of the wise and far-sighted policy of the National Leader by President Ilham Aliyev, the country has achieved major successes and secured a historic Victory. Important steps are also being taken in the social sphere, and over the past seven years, five major social reform packages have been implemented under the instructions of the Head of State, resulting in significant increases in social payments.

It was noted that the activities of the New Azerbaijan Party, founded by the National Leader, are also based on serving the people and the state, and that the Party chaired by President Ilham Aliyev plays a major role in the country’s dynamic and comprehensive development.

Tahir Budagov stated that after returning to power in 1993 at the persistent request of the people, National Leader Heydar Aliyev first ensured the elimination of the deep socio-economic crisis in the country, established economic stability, and laid the foundations for fundamental reforms in the social sphere. He noted that the first Constitution of independent Azerbaijan, prepared under the leadership of the National Leader and adopted in 1995, defined ensuring a достойный standard of living for Azerbaijani citizens as the supreme goal of the state.

It was also emphasized that during Heydar Aliyev’s leadership, the institutional foundations of the country’s social policy were established and all segments of society were covered by state care. President and Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party Ilham Aliyev’s statement, “The welfare and interests of Azerbaijani citizens are at the center of our policy,” forms the basis of the country’s socially oriented policy. The consistent implementation of large-scale social packages serves as a clear example of this policy.

Tahir Budagov also noted that socially oriented policy is one of the main priorities in the Party’s program and that the Party remains committed to the ideas of the National Leader while actively contributing to the implementation of the principles of social justice, citizens’ welfare, and a strong state.

Musa Guliyev stressed that National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the author of the social development strategy of independent Azerbaijan, always paid special attention to social protection issues. He spoke about the work carried out under the National Leader’s instructions to establish the country’s social legislative framework. Misir Mardanov highlighted Heydar Aliyev’s contributions to the development of the social sphere and the national education system.

Later, membership cards of the New Azerbaijan Party were presented to 64 employees of the Ministry. It was noted that nearly 5,500 employees within the Ministry’s system are members of the Party. The newly admitted members expressed gratitude for the high trust and confidence shown to them.

The event concluded with an inclusive concert program performed by beneficiaries of the DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Center.
