
A meeting was held at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population with a delegation led by Kristin Engstrom, Director General of Sector Group 3 of the Asian Development Bank.
Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Anar Aliyev noted the effective cooperation between the Ministry and the Asian Development Bank in the fields of labour, employment and social protection, and highlighted the importance of the joint projects implemented in recent years.
It was stated that positive results had been achieved within the framework of one such project, “Strengthening Asian Development Bank Support for Social Protection to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.” The importance of the ADB Country Partnership Strategy for 2025–2029 was also emphasized, as it creates opportunities for expanding cooperation in new areas.
Information was provided on the achievements of social reforms carried out in the country in recent years, the advantages of the DOST Concept, the implementation of active employment programs, workforce skills development, and the broad application of digital solutions in the social sphere. The latest amendments to the country’s labour legislation and reforms carried out in the compulsory health insurance system were also highlighted.
Kristin Engstrom expressed the ADB’s interest in continuing and expanding cooperation with the Ministry. During the meeting, opportunities for implementing new joint projects between the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population and the Asian Development Bank were discussed.
