In accordance with the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, the main social goals are to provide families of martyrs of the Patriotic War, veterans, medical and social rehabilitation services of wounded servicemen, modern prostheses.

This was stated by Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anar Karimov at a press conference on the work done in the social sphere last year and the social goals for 2021.

The Deputy Minister noted that during the post-war period, more than 11,000 family members of martyrs, veterans and war victims were covered by this support. In particular, he noted that social payments were assigned to 6,500 family members of 2,650 martyrs, as well as the involvement of these categories in active employment programs, providing them with social and psychological support and rehabilitation services.

He said that over the past year, another 1,500 families of martyrs and people with war-related disabilities have been provided with apartments and private houses, and 400 wounded war veterans have been provided with cars. So far, more than 9,100 apartments and private houses and more than 7,200 cars have been provided to those in these categories. He said that the process of transferring the apartments built for former IDPs to the families of martyrs on the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev is nearing completion. He said that this important new program will allow the families of martyrs to make further significant progress in providing housing for people with war-related disabilities.

Karimov noted that modern rehabilitation and social service institutions have been opened in more than 10 regions over the past two years, including 6 regions in 2020 (Lankaran, Khachmaz, Shirvan, Sheki, Sumgayit, Goygol). In the coming months, 4 modern rehabilitation and social service institutions will be opened. In general, the modern rehabilitation system established in recent years has created conditions for the coverage of our wounded veterans with effective medical and social rehabilitation services. At the same time, consistent work is being done to provide our wounded veterans with rehabilitation aids, especially modern, high-tech prostheses. Over the past month, they have been provided with 530 rehabilitation aids, as well as 6 veterans with 8 high-tech prostheses, and work is underway in this area.

The Deputy Minister stressed that the special care of the President in the social sphere has allowed to strengthen social security from year to year. In 2020, social security payments will increase by 20% or 1 billion manat to 5 billion 743 million manat, including 20% ​​on pensions, 18% on presidential pensions and benefits, and 41% on targeted social assistance. funds were directed.

Karimov noted that the President's decrees have significantly increased the pensions of martyrs' families and war veterans since the beginning of this year, established new types of pensions and covered about 100,000 people with these decrees. He said that last year the sustainability of social payments was ensured, the targeted social assistance program was expanded, access to this program was increased and the terms of the program were relaxed.

The Deputy Minister noted the support measures in connection with the pandemic, the increase in pensions over the past year.
