The agenda of cooperation with the UN in social reforms in Azerbaijan has significantly expanded in recent years with new joint projects, and the practice of active cooperation will continue in the future.
This was stated by the Minister of Labor and Social Protection Sahil Babayev at a farewell meeting with Gulam Isakzai, who completed his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan as the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan.
Noting that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to close and lasting partnership with the UN, the minister spoke about the Ministry's cooperation with various UN organizations in the past. Babayev said the projects "Development of innovation and employment in Azerbaijan" and "Creation of inclusive and decent jobs for socially vulnerable groups" implemented jointly with the UN Development Program (UNDP) are important support for youth access to the labor market and small businesses to vulnerable groups. . He said that another project is underway in cooperation with the UNDP to support the rights and welfare of women with disabilities and war veterans.
Babayev also stressed that the project "Building a society for all ages: promoting the welfare of the elderly in Azerbaijan through active aging" implemented jointly with the UN Population Fund is a very important project. He noted the positive results of cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund in activities aimed at eliminating gender inequality among newborns.
The Minister stressed the effective activity of Isakzai in achieving a successful experience of cooperation and his efforts to develop bilateral relations. He thanked Isakzai for this and wished him success in his future endeavors.
Isakzai thanked for the kind words. He noted that he had good impressions of our country and people during his diplomatic career in Azerbaijan. He stressed that the liberation of Azerbaijan from occupation was a memorable event for him, especially during his tenure in our country. Expressing satisfaction with the development of bilateral cooperation in the social sphere, Isakzai expressed confidence that relations would continue to expand.
