On the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, another social reform package has been prepared as a new stage of social reforms. Under this package, there will be an increase in the minimum pension from the beginning of 2022. Along with pensions, benefits will also increase.
This was stated by Minister of Labor and Social Protection Sahil Babayev in an interview with the media during the opening of the Children's Rehabilitation Center in Gabala.
He noted that in 2018-2021, the minimum pension increase was 82% and the average pension increase was 60%. The increase in benefits was almost twice on average. In general, from the new year, the next social reform package will increase pensions, benefits, grants, salaries, social assistance.
Babayev said that these increases will cover more than 2 million people, adding that the pensions of more than 1.1 million retirees will increase as a result of indexation next year.
He noted that the purpose of the pension reform is to protect the sustainability of the state pension system, as well as the introduction of new humanist approaches in this system, increasing access to pensions. In recent years, important steps have been taken in this direction. New humanistic approaches to the pension system will continue.
