Farid Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of DOST Agency, made a presentation entitled "DOST Agency for a dignified life: ensuring social protection for 65+ people."
The presentation focused on the establishment of social services for people over 65, innovative approaches and measures taken to address the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact of the steps taken and the assessment of outcomes, lessons learned and recommendations, as well as joint implementation with UNFPA. Information was provided on the "Active Aging" project.
In his speech, Farid Mammadov touched upon issues such as providing social services at home to lonely elderly and disabled, improving the social security of the elderly, providing social services at home, implementing the "Silver DOST" Voluntary Sub-Program, increasing IT literacy at home through trainings.
The presentation discussed the experience of timely informing the population about new services for effective implementation of social services, acquiring self-service skills, civic-oriented and needs-based services, as well as the ability to manage strategies and work plans in case of emergencies.
Farid Mammadov also voiced recommendations based on the experience of DOST Agency.
It should be noted that during the most severe period of the COVID-19 pandemic, DOST centers provided social services to 1,020 people at home, provided food to 4,200 people, within the framework of the "Active Aging" project, 1035 citizens over the age of 65 were trained on "Electronic payments", "Internet use", "Online communication", "Electronic accounts and social networks", and active adaptation to pandemic conditions was provided.
