Today, December 26, is the day of establishment of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population. 104 years ago, on December 26, 1918, the Ministry was established as the Ministry of Posts, Telegraphs and Labor, having an important role in the implementation of the social policy of our state, which is strengthening year by year, providing services in the areas of labor, employment, social protection, medical expertise and rehabilitation, adoption to a large part of the country's population.
In accordance with the successful social policy of President Ilham Aliyev, consistent and large-scale reforms have been implemented in the spheres of activity of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population in recent years. Significant steps have been taken in the direction of strengthening the social protection system, expanding active employment programs, applying innovative solutions of state social services, using electronic technologies, in line with citizen satisfaction.
In accordance with the decrees and orders of the head of state, 3 social reform packages were implemented in the last 4 years, and additional 6 bln. manat allocated.
As a result of these reforms, the minimum wage increased by 2.3 times, the average monthly wage by 53 percent, labor contracts by 30 percent, the wage fund by 2.2 times, the minimum pension by 2.2 times, the average monthly pension by 80 percent, social benefits and pension payments by 3, It has increased 5 times.
At the same time, the scope of the social security system was significantly expanded by establishing more than 10 new types of social payments and applying humanistic approaches that serve to increase access to pension provision.
DOST Agency, established by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev and inaugurated in May 2019, has become a new brand of our country. The concept of DOST, which was initiated by the first vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva, enabled the provision of state social services from a "one-stop shop", modern and flexible, fully transparent mechanisms, according to citizen satisfaction.
