Issues of further cooperation with the World Bank in the social sphere were discussed

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population with a delegation from the World Bank.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Sahil Babayev said that over the past period, a successful experience of cooperation has developed between the ministry and the World Bank. The achievements of reforms carried out in the social sphere in our country and steps taken towards expanding active employment programs were brought to attention.

The importance of joint projects with the World Bank in the process of social reforms and expansion of employment programs was noted. One of the projects discussed was the Employment Support Project, which aims to support access to small businesses for 22,000 unemployed people. According to the project, about 14 thousand unemployed people from vulnerable groups of the population were transferred assets and small businesses were created for them in the field of production and services.

Also, in recent years, a new employment strategy has been developed, the disability assessment system has been improved, capacity in the field of adoption has been strengthened, etc. Positive results of cooperation in these areas have been noted. World Bank Manager for Azerbaijan country, Stephanie Stollmeister, Senior Social Protection Specialist Mireille Ovadia and others expressed satisfaction with the cooperation in the process of social reforms being carried out in our country.
