The meeting was held with members of Public Council under the Ministry in connection with the expiration of the term of the Council in the current composition

The candidates are being registered to elect new members of the Council

The Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population Sahil Babayev met with members of Public Council under the Ministry in connection with the expiration of the term of the Council in the current composition (2 years period).

The minister stressed that, according to the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, greater importance was attached to ensure public participation in the process of large-scale reforms implemented by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population. In this regard, active cooperation with Public Council under the Ministry was carried out. The representatives of the civil society consisting of 15 members of the Council have been provided with the necessary conditions for close participation in the ministry's activities. The working groups on 4 directions of activity were established in the Council. The legislation projects on labour, employment, social security, disability and rehabilitation were presented to them, their opinions and suggestions were heard. The necessary conditions have been created for members of the Public Council to carry out monitoring of the Ministry's service areas.

S.Babayev noted that, current term of the Public Council under the Ministry have expired in accordance with the legislation, thus, new members of the Council should be elected for the next term. In this regard, a committee of 9 people (4 of them from the ministry, 5 of them from NGOs) have been established to organize the election of a new member of the council of 15 members.

An announcement on the elections of the council was also posted on the official website of the ministry. Registration of candidates for membership in the Council are underway. The process of electing new composition will be ensured transparently and fairly.

The minister stated the Public Council conducts efficient and purposeful work in the implementation of its duties. He also positively evaluated the activities of civil society representatives represented in the Council.

The chairman of the Public Council, chairman of the International Eurasia Press Fund Umud Mirzayev provided information on the Council's activities over the last two years. He expressed his satisfaction of ensuring strong public control in every activity of the ministry, conditions created for familiarization with legislative projects, conducting of monitoring and public hearings, attentive approaching to their opinions and suggestions.

The members of Council wished success to their colleagues, who will be represented in the newly elected composition.

The meeting ended with the presentation of letters of appreciation to the Council members.
