The Monitoring Commission held meetings with public representatives on the implementation of state monitoring in the field of the rights of persons with disabilities. The first meeting with public representatives of about 40 organizations and activists with disabilities took place on August 18 and the second one was held on August 21. The meeting was attended by the head of the commission and chairman of the DOST Agency Farid Mammadov, head of the Department of Disability Policy of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection Sabir Gojayev, other members of the commission, as well as representatives of leading non-governmental organizations and public activists.
During the meetings moderated by the Chairman of the Monitoring Commission Farid Mammadov, information was provided on the work done by the state to protect the rights of persons with disabilities, including the goals and objectives of state monitoring in the relevant field, action plan for 2020 and its implementation. The proposed methodology for monitoring and monitoring methods for the pandemic period have been put up for public discussion to study opinions and suggestions.
Farid Mammadov noted that ensuring the rights of children with disabilities and adults with disabilities is one of the priorities of the social policy of the Azerbaijani state. He noted that quite consistent measures have been taken in this direction capturing institutional, legislative and infrastructural sides of the issue.
Sabir Gojayev, Head of the Disability Policy Department of the MLSPP, reminded that the Commission's opinions and proposals will be submitted to the government and relevant decisions will be made. According to him, at the initial stage of the Monitoring Commission, meetings were held with a number of experts.
During the meeting, public activists and NGO representatives shared their views and suggestions on the implementation of state monitoring in the field of the rights of persons with disabilities.
At the end, it was noted that such meetings with NGO representatives and public activists will be continued, and the commission will take into account the views and suggestions.
